Here’s our easy guide to help you calculate the amount of paint you will require for your paint project.
Small Room - 2m x 2m or Equivalent
Based on an average ceiling height of 2.6m, we would estimate that a small room with an approximate size of 2m x 2m, would need 2.5 litres of paint to cover all walls with two coats of paint.
If you are painting a dark colour onto the wall, or if you are painting a light colour over a previously painted dark colour, you may require an extra coat of paint. If this is the case, it is recommended to purchase a 5 litre can to ensure you have a sufficient quantity.
Freshly plastered walls should be prepared with a base coat prior to painting. The base coat can be either white or your chosen paint colour, and should be thinned with 20% water prior to application.
Medium Room - 4m x 4m or Equivalent
Based on an average ceiling height of 2.6m, we would estimate that a medium room with an approximate size of 4m x 4m, would need 5 litres of paint to cover all walls with two coats of paint.
If you are painting a dark colour onto the wall, or if you are painting a light colour over a previously painted dark colour, you may require an extra coat of paint. If this is the case, it is recommended to purchase 10 litres to ensure you have a sufficient quantity.
